We’re honored that ADBC and the partners of Superscript (all alums of SVA’s Design Criticism MFA program), are profiled as “Conversation Starters” in the Newsmakers section of SVA’s 2012 Annual. Thanks, SVA! Read the story here.
On Thursday, August 23 Superscript welcomed guests to the third meeting of the Architecture and Design Book Club (ADBC) for a conversation about design themes in Austerlitz, the 2001 novel by W.G. Sebald. Special guest Mark Lamster led the discussion, which was hosted in The Lounge of WeWork Soho’s landmarked building.
The lively convo covered topics from the relationship between memory and buildings to the role of photographs in fiction. Among the crowd were Iben Falconer of the architecture firm BIG, Curry Stone Prize curator Chee Pearlman, Project Projects partner Prem Krishnamurthy, SVA DCrit chair Alice Twemlow, and writer/producer Adam Harrison Levy. A big thanks to everyone involved and congratulations to our four winners (Leon Ransmeier, Jonathan Lerner, Alta Price, and Chee Pearlman) who, courtesy of Ella Maslin at Random House, each scored a complimentary copy of Austerlitz by suggesting great titles for future ADBC readings!
Special thanks to Avital Gottesman and Thanh Nguyen at WeWork for providing our cool storefront venue.
